Maria Sadowska

Born in Łódź, studied at the State School of Fine Arts in Łódź (today Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź). Graduated 1977 from the painting studio of Prof. Juliusz Narzyński.
1979-1997 textile print designer at the Cotton Industry Works (Zakłady Przemysłu Bawełnianego) in Łódź, simultaneously active in the area of fine arts.
She specialises in watercolor figurative painting and spatial compositions (“Objects”) with elements of illusionist painting. Fascinated in objects, she mostly paints still lifes and interiors. In her painting, she is often inspired by the architecture of medieval castles and churches, visited by her during numerous art voyages. Also her great love for animals is visible in her works. She consequently defends the long-lasting artistic values, incl. the traditional, solid handcraft.
Member of the “Group R” Artists’ Society (active 1992-1996) of figurative artists.
Member of the “Plus Minus” Creative Group.
Author of 20 individual exhibitions, participant of 86 group exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
Laureate of the Maison d`Artiste de la Grande Vigne scholarship in Dinan, France. 2005; finalist of the “Painting of the Year 2004” competition organised by the “Art & Business” monthly.
Her works are included in numerous public and private collections in Poland and abroad.
Member of the Union of Polish Visual Artists (ZPAP). She lives and works in Łódź.
